Spurs Done in 5

Published by nchartman at 10:59 pm under Playoffs Edit This

Repeating is hard to do, sure, but the Spurs expected a better Conference Finals showing than this one. The last several years, commentators have talked about the Spurs losing a step or two, getting too old, too worn and tired after deep playoff run after deep playoff run, and now it can only be seen as tried and true fact. The Spurs are too old, and the Lakers were young, young and athletic and loose and hungry, and they would not be denied this close out game 5. The Lakers have tremendous depth even without a fully fit Ariza or their up and coming center, Bynum, depth enough to tire out nearly any other team in the league, and their bench epitomizes the strengths of their starting lineup, which is one of the best in the game. Everyone that gets to see action can handle the ball, defend, shoot, and pass, some better than others obviously, but everyone in gold and purple is a sound basketball player. The Spurs have depth, but it’s aging veterans chasing a ring, one dimensional players that mostly specialize in shooting the 3, not penetrating or creating shots for a team mate.
