Lakers (101) Over Spurs (71)
One only needs to look at Farmar’s incredible block in transition to see what’s happening here. The Lakers are too young, too active, athletic, deep, and determined to be denied. They impressively handled the defending champion Spurs with a mix of strong, active defense and their potent offensive game. Everyone on the floor for the Lakers can pass, shoot, and defend the basketball. No Laker is a total liability on either end of the floor, unlike the Spurs, who have Bowen and Oberto, two nonscorers, and a load of bench players that either hit threes or miss threes. Nobody except Ginobili or Parker can really create shots for themselves, while most of the Lakers are natural play makers, and that includes their bigs. This series might be over much sooner than many expected.
