Spurs at Suns: A Must Win

Published by nchartman at 6:24 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

The Suns are more than capable of winning away games in the playoffs, but going down 0-3 would be devastating. They’re still confidant and maintain that they will win this series after the two losses in San Antonio, which weren’t anything to get too excited about, but the Spurs just barely took care of home court after two miraculous finishes. In game one they needed 3 buzzer beaters, a missed free throw from Nash, multiple up close misses from Diaw, a charge by Stoudemire, and crazy foul trouble for Stoudemire and Shaq to win a game they were expected to win. Game two saw an 11 point 3rd quarter by the best offense in the league; that will not happen again.

The Suns have made some crucial errors late in both games and have struggled mightily in containing the penetration from Ginobili and Parker. They might want to consider packing it in a little tighter in the paint, and maybe let Ginobili earn some of his calls. Hopefully for the Suns, Grant Hill has recovered enough to play in game 3, where they desperating need his ball handling and defense. Also, Diaw and Barbosa were complete no shows in game 2, so look for them to be more productive. Speaking of production, look for Nash to be more of a scorer whenever the Suns miss more than a couple shots in a row. If Nash took those 18 shots in the 3rd, he would’ve hit more than 3 irrespective of the defense played by the Spurs.
